When Demo is appropriate
This home had been empty for quite some time, so no one knew of the water intrusion. When drywall is totally wet and shows signs of deterioration, it is necessary to remove the affected area. In this case, the drywall had to be cut 2 feet up. There were no signs of any microbial growth, so we were able to use air movers as well as dehumidifiers to dry the space out. By cutting the drywall out, it allows airflow to get to the remaining wall cavity as well as the exterior wall. After complete drying, the drywall can then be replaced. Complete restoration will then finish off the service.
